Catharina Palmér

(born in Karlskrona, 1963, resident Stockholm/Sweden), is Swedish a contemporary composer. Her studies started with violin, piano and organ before she went on to composition studies in 1991. In 1998 she graduated from the Roayl College of Music in Stockholm with a diploma in composition. Her teachers in Stockholm where among others Sven-David Sandström and Pär Lindgren, in Copenhagen Per Nørgård and in the US Don at the Indiana University. Palmer's list of works is about fifty compositions and her music has been performed by the Stockholm Wind Ensemble, Stockholm Saxophoe Quartet, Kroumata, KammarensembleN, Akademiska Kören in Stockholm as well as Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Palmer was representated in Stockholm New Music in 1996 and her music has been performed in numerous European countries and in the US. She received the Royal Academy of Music' foreign grant and has been a member of FST (Association of Swedish Composers) since 1999. In 2002 she received the first prize for her piece Ahead (for Coro, six soloists and electronics) in a composition contest for choir, organized by the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble at Indiana University, USA. In 2003 Palmér received the second prize in the Danish chamber choir Hymnias' international composition contest Vattenverk (water works) for her composition Kissrain, Watersleep, for Coro and 2 percussion. She finished her doctoral degree in composition in 2004 at the Indiana University in the US. Palmer is one of the founders to the group Opus 96, which is a society of seven female composers. Palmer feels a great love for poetry and has written music to texts by Ocatavio Paz and Thomas Tranströmer. Among her three most important works Counterpoint to Silence (1999) for orch, A prayer (2202), for S, A soli, mixed Coro, str, and perc; and Like Endless Chains of Gold (2003) for mixed Coro and orch, may be mentioned.

Chris Poole

(born in 1952, resident in Denmark), composer. She is one of Denmark's most original jazz flute players. She is known from her many solo concerts, where she has developed her own personal style which she expresses in her improvisations and flute compositions. Chris has a duo with guitar player Kasper Søeborg and also with pianist Marietta Wandall. She also creates music for many of the Norwegian theater and film production company Visjoner' s productions. Chris Poole came to Denmark from the USA in 1975 and is today a Danish citizen. She has a degree from Berklee College of Music. She was the first women to complete Berklee's solist line and has studied with Gary Burton, Andy McGee, Joe Viola and James Newton. The music she wrote for a production of The Lady from the Sea for the Berkeley Repertory Theater, San Francisco, was chosen best musical work for drama in 1993. Chris is also an experienced teacher. She is mentioned in Grove's Dictionary of Women Composers (1995) and has 4 CD's and a CD Rom out in her own name.

Cinzia Pennesi

Nata a Tolentino (MC) nel 1965. Si è diplomata al Conservatorio " Morlacchi" di Perugia in Pianoforte e in Musica Corale e Direzione di Coro, ha studiato, inoltre, Analisi e Composizione con F. Dellipizzi, direzione d‟orchestra con G. Kuhn, B. Aprea e F. Mannino; direzione di coro e con G. Acciai, P. Righele, e composizione con G. Santorsola. Svolge intensa attività artistica in qualità di Direttore d‟Orchestra e di Coro, Pianista e Compositrice in Italia, Europa, Marocco, America. E‟ autrice di molti lavori per il teatro dei quali ha diretto le prime rappresentazioni: “La sirenetta dei mari e della terra” su testo L. Melchionna- S.Genovese; “Il fantasma dell’ opera” su testo proprio, “Peter Pan” – co-autrice R. Vacca, “Sinfonia visiva” su testo di G. Gualdon, “Il funerale del poeta” su testo di G. Eleonori. Molte composizioni da camera e per orchestra sono edite da RAITRADE, eseguite da interpreti in vari Festival in Italia ed all‟ estero ed incise dalla Bottega Discantica e Kho. Ha diretto, inoltre, molte Opere barocche curandone la revisione e realizzazione strumentale alcune delle quali in prima rappresentazione in tempi moderni: Spesso invitata in diversi programmi televisivi, ha diretto l‟Orchestra “Accademia della Libellula” nel programma di RAI UNO:“Tutte donne tranne me” condotto da Massimo Ranieri curandone gli arrangiamenti musicali. ed ha diretto importanti Orchestre sinfoniche quali: Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio-Televisione Serba; Orchestra Sinfonica di Stato di San Pietroburgo; Orchestra del Centro Europeo della Musica ; Orchestra Pomeriggi musicali - Milano, Orchestra di Solingen, etc .Ha registrato per Rai-uno, Rai-due, Sky-TV, Rai-International, Radio Vaticana e radiotelevisione Serba. Dal 2003 ha ideato ed è Direttore Artistico di Opera Aperta, che realizza Opere del Novecento storico e contemporaneo prodotte nei Teatri della provincia di Macerata in co-produzione con importanti Enti.
