Suvi Oskala
Suvi Oskala (20/08/1983, Joensuu, Finland) is a fiddle player and a singer combining a solo career with ensemble work in band such as Piia Kleemola & co, Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala and Pelios. She composes material for her solo work and ensembles, and has composed and performed music for several whole performances ranging from the world’s first sign language opera and music for the theatre, solo material in a more contemporary style. Suvi Oskala holds a Master of Music degree from the Folk Music Department of Sibelius Academy where she studied from 2002 to 2010 with fiddle and singing as her two majors. Suvi Oskala’s first solo album, entitled simply as ’SOOLO’, was released in February 2012 by her own label Suvi Sounds.
