İdil Özkan

Pianist, and composer, was born in Istanbul, Turkey 1977, and studied piano at Istanbul State conservatory, attended master classes, and worked chamber music. Upon graduation from Istanbul State The conservatory (Piano) and Bogazici University (Psychology) she continued her education at the Berklee College of Music, expanding her studies to jazz piano, composition and film scoring. After graduation she worked with pianist, composer Lera Auerbach in New York. She obtained a commission from King International Inc. Japan, to write a piano piece "Anatolian Elegy" representing Turkey for the 2008 recording of "National Anthems by Great Composers". Her compositions have been performed at Young Composers Festival 2009, and Capadoccia Classical Music festival 2011. And, Ozkan’s composition "Deranged" was performed by Hezarfen Ensemble in 2010. She composed music for documentaries "Balance" (2010) and "Overdrive" (2011), and has been commissioned to write "Lonely King" for AICA exhibition "Dear, please don't" to be represented at Elgiz Contemporary Art Museum. Currently she continues her studies in composition at ITU MIAM.
