Christina Gustafsson

(born in Värmskog, Värmland, residente Stockholm, Sweden), is a Swedish jazz vocalist, arranger and composer. Her music is rooted in jazz with influences from the American singer/songwriter tradition. Some of the musicians Gustafsson has worked with are Max Schultz, guitar, Erik Söderlind, guitar, Calle Rasmusson, drums, Martin Höpner, bass, Daniel Karlsson, piano and Magnus Lindgren saxophone, clarinet and flute. Ceclila Åse, Helena Davidsson and Stefan Danielsson are some of the lyricists Gustafsson has worked with. In 1994-1996 Christina lived in New York and studied at the Mannes College of Music. There, she formed her first jazz quartet that played in clubs at Manhattan. Back in Sweden, in 1996 she formed her own Swedish Quintet with Karl-Martin Almqvist, saxophone, Mattias Landaeus, piano, Sebastian Voegler, drums and Mattias Welin , bass. In 1996-1999 Gustafsson studied with music teacher at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
